Vazart-Coquart "Special Club" Grand Cru Champagne 2012

Chardonnay|Chouilly, Champagne

A premium "tête de cuvée" bottling from one of Champagne's oldest houses, founded in 1785, found in the Grand Cru terroir of Chouilly, part of the prestigious Côte de Blancs subregion of Champagne.

This is Vazart-Coquart's "Special Club" 2012 bottling.

The Club Trésors de Champagne – the Special Club – is a who’s-who of producers who make Champagne from their own land, so-called “grower” Champagne. The Special Club is an answer to the large houses who make wine from purchased fruit across the region (think Dom Pérignon, Taittinger, Moet and the like). Exclusive doesn't even begin to describe the club – out of the thousands of growers in Champagne, there are only currently just twenty-eight members, Vazart-Coquart among them.

91 points Wine Spectator - "Almond skin, ripe apricot and lemon curd flavors are layered on the creamy mousse of this fresh Champagne. There's a zesty edge that keeps it lively through to the minerally finish. Drink now through 2025. 450 cases made."
