Sinor-LaVallee Pinot Noir 2016

San Luis Obispo County

One of our all-time best sellers, Sinor-Lavallee is back with their completely organic, coastal Pinot Noir from the fabulous 2016 vintage.

Mike Sinor and Cheri LaVallee bought their estate Bassi Vineyard in 2013 with the goal of growing fruit and making wine holistically and naturally; they farm 100% organically with biodynamic influences, taking the entire ecosystem into account with every decision. The ancient loamy, marine sandstone soils provide fruit lift and elegance.

Brimming with soft raspberry, cherry cola, tea leaf, and forest-floor earthy notes, Sinor-LaVallee's is all one expects from fine central coast Pinot. On the back end, the wine is silky and smooth, with warm pie-crust notes of cinnamon and cardamom, backed up by black cherry and a pleasing tart finish.

A secret about California Pinot Noir: to label a California wine by grape, it must have only a minimum of 75% of that grape; many high-flying, expensive labels "beef up" their Pinots with other, deeper grapes to give them that point-scoring muscle (Syrah, Teroldego, etc). Rest assured this is 100% Pinot Noir, ultimately pleasing and juicy, and as natural as it gets!
