Sanger "Voyage 360" Brut Nature Champagne MV
Traditional Blend｜Avize, Champagne
This superb, lively Champagne is a unique, exciting project from the alumni of a prestigious winemaking school in the Côte des Blancs. Founded in 1919, the Avize Viti Campus is comprised of current students trained by former pupils, cultivating and fostering some of the finest talents throughout Champagne.
Pronounced SAWN-gherr, Sanger is a portmanteau of "Sans Guerre" ("no war") and represents sixteen former students and their myriad holdings of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir plots.
For fans of energetic, bone-dry bubbles, this Champagne has it all: crackling minerality, lemon balm, oyster shell, and citrus pith. Lively and pure as a mountain stream, this is the type that disappears all too easily – brisk, not cloying, and mega-clean.
No wonder, then, that it's a Brut Nature; in the lexicon of Champagne, Brut Nature connotes the driest manifestation, with no sugar added in its dosage – the final top-up of wine before it's sent out into the world. It's not an easy designation to master since the fruit and terroir are on naked full display – to shine, the raw materials must be pristine. It's based mostly off of the 2010 vintage with some 30% reserve wines from previous vintages, adding a multi-dimensional crystalline structure.
Organic, no-sugar-added Champagne goodness, at a fraction of the price for lesser corporate-owned cuvées. Enjoy!
