Roagna Langhe Bianco 2018
Founded in 1929, Roagna is one of the most in-demand houses you may never have heard of, producing hyper-traditional Piedmontese gems with a parade of top scores. Luca Roagna is the fifth generation to lead this family-run estate.
If Barolo is the "king of wines," Barbaresco is the queen, where their estate is based. Their minuscule "Crichet Pajé" Cru Barbaresco is fiendishly sought by collectors and trades for upwards of $800/bottle-plus. Their wines are easily among the top investor-grade wines in Piedmont.
This just-released Bianco is 90% Chardonnay & 10% Nebbiolo (yes, a red grape in this white wine!). It's fresh, textured, and nuanced with some of Nebbiolo's bite and grip and layered stone fruit, almond, and mineral hints.
We're allocated just a handful of individually-numbered bottles every year, and we had to practically beg for them. We're one of just a handful of outlets to have them in the country, and one of a very limited few in California. Direct from the importer, absolutely pristine provenance, and a phenomenal value for such a highly allocated wine. As always, 100% climate-controlled storage and shipping direct to your door, free shipping on six. Cheers!
