Remoissenet Père et Fils Fleurie 2018
Gamay Noir｜Beaujolais, France
Remoissenet Père et Fils is a benchmark house in Burgundy. The estate dates over 150 years old, for centuries operating as a merchant in Burgundy.
This bottling is a collaboration with the house of Domaine Julien Clément, who owns a small parcel of old vine Gamay Noiur in Fleurie, Beaujolais, just south of Burgundy. One of the ten "crus" of Beaujolais, Fleurie is prized for its pink-granite soils. It's no coincidence the wines of Fleurie have a distinct floral nature to the wines.
The organic vines of Gamay Noir are carefully hand-harvested and fermented in vintage barrels, producing a beautifully aromatic, layered profile. Loads of red flowers, defined red plum and characteristic mineral, earthy texture.
If you love Pinot, its cousin Gamay Noir should be at the top of your list. This gorgeously aromatic bottling is a steal!
