RAEN, "Sea Field" Fort Ross-Seaview Pinot Noir 2019
Pinot Noir｜Sonoma Coast
If you know the RAEN project, this offer needs no introduction and you'll be skipping straight to the checkout and grabbing yours without hesitation. If you're new to this label, read on, but don't hesitate – these are some of the most super-allocated wines in the country and will sell out quickly!
Carlo and Dante Mondavi, Robert Mondavi's grandsons, formed the RAEN project in 2013 and ever since have consistently produced some of the most sought-after, blue-chip Pinot Noir from the rugged, extreme western end of Sonoma Coast, considered the "true" Sonoma Coast by aficionados.
This is their top-end creation, hailing from the Fort Ross-Seaview appellation in the Sonoma Coast, dubbed "Sea Field." James Suckling rates it 99 points, and if history is any guide this is destined to become one of the most collectible, sure-to-appreciate Pinots on the market. That it's under $100 is even more mind blowing!
"99 points. This is really refined with black tea, rose petals, orange and blue fruit. It’s medium-bodied with wild-strawberry and forest-floor flavors. Medium-bodied with great vibrancy and beautiful tannins running through the center palate, which is stitched into the wine. Long and true. 100% whole-cluster fermentation. Subtle and energetic. Better after 2025."
