Mending Wall "Palisades Vineyard" Petite Sirah 2015

Petite Sirah|Napa Valley

Our previous offer of Mending Wall from 2010 Winemaker of the Year Thomas Rivers Brown was so popular, we couldn't say no to an allocation of his incredible Petite Sirah from the famed Palisades Vineyard in Napa. He is the youngest winemaker to ever receive a perfect 100-point score – he is one of California's most in-demand winemakers; every wine he makes is an instant classic.

One of California's signature varieties, this is a full, rich, and luxurious Petite Sirah. Deep blue-black in the glass, with pencil lead, blackcurrant liqueur, roasted espresso, and crushed rocks with gorgeous tannins and a silky, dry, mocha-laden finish.

The Palisades Vineyard, in Calistoga, is recorded by the Historic Vineyards Society. Its massive, bush-trained ancient vines of Petite Sirah are completely dry-farmed and have been planted here since its inception in 1878 – just incredible. The photo attached is from the original bonded winery built in 1915, still standing to this day. If/when you ever get the opportunity, visit the site to take in a piece if California viticultural heritage.

Vinous Media gives this wine a stunning 94 points. It's a refined, collectible and highly long-lived example of one of Californias signature varieties. We received a tiny allotment of this wine at this price. Free shipping on four bottles.
