Heymann-Löwenstein "Shieferterrassen" Riesling 2011
Wonderfully layered, intricately-complex, libray-release dry Riesling from the Mosel!
Many words have been spilled about Heymann-Löwenstein, with their wines being described as "baroque rather than rectilinear," which is to say they're artisans in the truest sense, crafting wines that are rich, round, and idiosyncratic. Each vineyard plot, vintage, and cuvée have the potential to be radically different from one another.
The estate is run by Cornelia Heymann and Reinhard Löwenstein, two passionate, big-hearted, grower-winemakers with a long history in the Mosel.
The steeply-terraced “Schieferterrassen” plot has ideal exposures and iconic grey-blue slate soils, which impart an indelible sense of smoky minerality to this absolutely dry Riesling from the wonderful 2011 vintage.
