Gratiot-Pillière Brut Blanc de Blancs 2010
A refined, luxurious Grower Champagne from a 360-year-old estate in Charly-sur-Marne, Champagne.
The Gratiot-Pillière estate goes back eleven generations, founded in 1657––the same year Quakers started arriving in New Amsterdam from England.
A "Grower Champagne" is an estate who makes wine solely from vineyards they own and farm themselves. The Gratiot family farms their 18 hectares in Charly-sur-Marne sustainably and with care, with minimal intervention in both the vineyard and in winemaking. The chalky, clay-rich soils here produce a fleshier, deeper style of Blanc de Blancs Champagne. Red apple, butter-poached pear, and jasmine dominate the nose. The palate is supple and caresses with a soft mousse. Be adventurous and pair this fuller dishes, like roasted pork or glazed ribs. We love perfectly aged vintage Grower Champagne, and this one is a phenomenal value at $58.
