Georges Remy, “Les Vaudayants” Rosé Grand Cru Brut Nature MV
Chardonnay-Pinot Blend｜Avize, Champagne
2014 marks the first vintage for grower-producer Georges Remy, based in the Grand Cru villages of Bouzy, Ambonnay, and Louvois – all totaling less than five hectares in all. Everything is organic and biodynamic, utilizing horses to plow the fields and homemade compost “teas” for fertilizer and vine treatments. Nothing artificial is used anywhere in the process; this couldn’t be a more unique, handmade expression of the land.
This Grand Cru Rosé hails from one vineyard – ”Les Vaudayants” – and is comprised of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, vinified 100% in oak. Balancing nuanced Pinot-driven flavors and the racy, flinty, green-apple nerve of Chardonnay, this is a structured, powerful rosé whose pale color belies its intensity. Blood orange, nectarine pit, raspberry liqueur, rhubarb, licorice, and pink flowers round out an impressively complex palate finishing bone dry and tongue-tingling all the way through. So much verve, so much intensity; just an incredible wine all the way through.
Only thirty-six bottles were imported into the U.S. and we secured the lion’s share – enjoy!
