Eric Kent "Atoosa's Vineyard" Syrah 2017
Syrah｜Russian River Valley
Only 68 cases produced of this gorgeous, lush Syrah!
Husband-and-wife team of Kent Humphrey and Colleen Teitgen blur the line between fine art and fine wine. Sourcing from some of Sonoma's most notable organic and sustainably-farmed vineyards, they craft polished, refined wines and are especially know for their outstanding Syrah. On their labels they've featured over 100 unique artists on their labels, giving a platform otherwise not available for these emerging artisans. These wines are typically only available through their exclusive winery-only mailing list – we got our hands on some of their perfumed, layered Atoosa's Syrah for ours!
West of Santa Rosa in the southern Russian River Valley, Atoosa’s vineyard has some of the finest old-vine Syrah in Sonoma. This is certainly not a shy wine, with brooding blue fruit, warm baking spice, and espresso. This is Russian River Syrah at its finest and most layered; it drinks splendidly now and will make a fine addition to anyone's cellar for the next decade.
Their story is not without a bit of tragedy, however – their property, including a part of the winery, their home and vehicles were lost in the Kincaid fires of Sonoma. Their grit and determination were not diminished however; they continue to champion up-and-coming artists and have not missed a vintage yet. We love supporting small independent farmers, winemakers, and the community at large, and are donating a portion of all proceeds to the California Fire Foundations SAVE program (Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency).
As devoted readers of our daily offers know, true fine wine goes hand-in-hand with artistic expression. The wines of Eric Kent merge these worlds; every bottle is a showcase of terroir and art. Cheers!
