Cooper Mountain Vineyards Gamay Noir 2018
Gamay Noir｜Willamette Valley
Gamay, Pinot's flavor-packed cousin, originally hails from Beaujolais just south of Burgundy. It's the "it" grape and has never been more popular, with due cause: its luscious flavors, soft tannins, and fragrant aromatics both drink superbly young and age incredibly.
From the slopes of the eponymous Cooper Mountain, father-and-daughter team Bob and Barbara Gross farm 100% biodynamically (organic taken way further) – from herbal soil preparations, dry farming to carbon mitigation, the vineyard work is in tune with the environment and nothing artificial or chemical enters the picture.
Immediately, it seems full of life. A shimmering, vibrant ruby color and a nose exploding with summery forest fruits and flowers. Brambly blackberry, lilacs, black pepper, campfire smoke, and lavender. The palate is oh-so silky, with all the wild blueberry and crushed red flowers from the nose, along with a savory edge and soft, beautiful tannins that caress.
This wine is criminally underpriced for the amount of care and quality that goes into it, from vineyard to glass. Free shipping on six!
