Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards, Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Sauvignon Blanc-Sémillon|Napa Valley

Conn Valley is in the northeastern part of Napa, just off the Silverado Trail as it approaches Howell Mountain, separated from the valley floor by a ridge of rolling hills tucked away in one of the more remote, serene corners of Napa Valley. The Anderson family acquired the property in the early ‘80s and planted the 40-acre estate from scratch. Some of the first plantings came from his good friends at Silver Oak and the iconic Eisele Vineyard; truly special stuff.

Todd Anderson and his family made this corner of Napa famous beginning with their first vintage in 1987, immortalizing the Conn Valley with their respected Bordeaux-inspired red blends, as well as this beautiful white inspired by a left-bank “Graves Blanc” – a region and style of Sauvignon Blanc traditionally blended with Sémillon, fermented in oak for a fuller, richer style of Bordeaux Blanc.

The 90-10 blend of Sauv Blanc and Sémillon is fermented in stainless steel and moved to a mélange of mostly aged French oak, where it rested for approximately a year-and-a-half in barrel.

As one would expect of the style, it’s capable of providing immediate pleasure of cellaring for another year or so to great pleasure. In the glass you’ll find textbook new world Sauv Blanc notes of stone fruits, honeysuckle, lemon blossom, orange flower water, and green herbs with a fleshy yet piquant mouthfeel, finishing with a hint of marzipan and tropical fruits for a fully invigorating, fuller style white wine fit for easy spring and summer sipping or richer fare at the dinner table.

The property has been a family affair for four generations now, and should you visit, it’s likely Todd Anderson himself will meet you at the gates to take you on a leisurely, wine-soaked history of his amazing, singular estate. Tell him we sent you!

Fewer than 300 cases were made for the globe. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better value for such a luxurious, refined bottle of Napa greatness, and at the absolute best price in the nation it won’t last!
