Château La Rabotine Sancerre Rosé 2016
Pinot Noir｜Sancerre, Loire Valley
Did you know that Sancerre is not just limited to whites, produced from Sauvignon Blanc, but also produces fantastic red and rosé Pinot Noir?
With the season upon us, this delightful Pinot Noir rosé is the perfect pick-me-up for that early-evening aperitif with its abundant sour cherry, rosewater, tangerine peel, and chalky notes with enough fresh, tart acidity to wake the senses up.
Alban Roblin of Château La Rabotine is the latest in successive generations to farm his organic heirloom vines in the charming hamlet of Sury-en-Vaux, Sancerre (pop. 700). The vineyards here are composed of the prized limestone pebbly soils, called caillottes, which make this region so special. They impart high acid, fruit intensity, and structure to the wines.
We drink rosé all year, but are especially loading up while we continue to shelter at home. This juicy, fresh rosé is the perfect accompaniment.
