Camino Cellars "Soberanes Vineyard" Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay|Santa Lucia Highlands

Robert Parker 91 points.

Chardonnay lovers rejoice!

This has all the bright green apple, grapefruit, and nectarine skin you look for in classic Chardonnay, with just a hint of hazelnut and marzipan on the dry finish. Like a salted caramel-covered green apple. It walks the tightrope between citrus crispness and richness perfectly.

No wonder, considering the pedigree of the winemaker behind this micro-project: from famed winemaker Tadeo Borchardt, whose day job is winemaker at Neyers Vineyards, he creates rock-solid, award-winning wines every single year. He sources from the Soberanes vineyard, owned by the Pisoni and Franscioni families, household names in the wine world responsible for rockstar Pinots and Chards that trade at 2-3 times the price. (Ever heard of Gary's or Rosella's?!)

Only 100 cases of this wine was made; you can find it elsewhere for $40/bottle-plus. We were lucky enough to procure some of the last of it on the west coast!

Fresh and crisp as a Meyer lemon, rich enough for bolder cuisines, and dry as a bone. Delicious – stock up while we have it!
