Domaine Réyane & Pascal Bouley 2015 Red Burgundy Two-Pack
Red Burgundy Collector's Pack
If there's one thing we love, it's terroir. The rocks, the climate, the hand of the winemaker – all the stuff that puts the "there" there in a great wine. And we love sharing this passion with our dear readers. To that end, we managed to get our hands on some pristine back-vintage Burgundy from the multi-generational Bouley estate in Volnay.
Husband-and-wife Pascal and Réyane's domaine is in Volnay, looking across at the 14th-century church in the middle of the historic town. Their holdings are small and significant, concentrated in Volnay and a bit in Pommard, coming from the five generations of vignerons preceding them. Their son Pierrick, the sixth generation, recently transitioned to making the wines full-time, and was named "Young Vigneron of the Year" by the influential Bourgogne Aujourdhui publication.
This two-pack features one amazing bottle each of their bottlings from the powerful 2015 vintage, showcasing an early-drinking, affordable Bourgogne rouge and an elegant, long-lived cuvée from the Premier-cru rated Clos des Chênes, arguably the finest vineyard in all of Volnay.
DOMAINE RÉYANE & PASCAL BOULEY BOURGONE ROUGE 2015
This is essentially declassified villages Volnay, aged for a bit less than their classified bottlings. A deep crimson color, the nose shows some woodsy, rustic notes complemented by damson plum, mulberry, and bright pomegranate notes and wet forest floor, leading into chewy, soft tannins. Great balance – just delicious Burgundy for old-world Pinot lovers.
DOMAINE RÉYANE & PASCAL BOULEY 1ER CRU "CLOS DES CHÊNES" VOLNAY 2015
Connoisseurs will recognize the "Clos des Chênes" as the cadillac of Côte de Beaune Pinot. This is an especially tight, deeply-pitched example of this fine vineyard. The nose on this is quite shy at first, not unexpectedly – absolutely decant this for at least an hour. Spicy and dark, with brooding notes of crushed violets, candied plums, ripe berries, truffle, newly tanned leather, and warm spices. The tannins are a bit heftier, balancing perfectly with the brooding, spiced fruits. Loaded with potential, enjoy this baby now through 2030, perhaps beyond!
You won't find these wines anywhere else in the world, and we're offering free shipping to boot. Enjoy!
