Bonaccorsi remains one of my favorite go-to Pinot producers. I'd venture them to be somewhat off the radar, which is unfortunate as they have consistently crafted balanced and refined Burgundian varieties since their inception in 1999.
Tragically, founder and Master Sommelier Michael Bonaccorsi passed away in 2004 at only 43 years old. Nevertheless, the family has persevered since. All small production, hand-crafted, and eminently refined.
Nestled between the mountains in the Sta. Rita Hills, the Kessler-Haak vineyard is an all-organic, very cool climate site known for magnificent Pinot Noir; there's something magical about its crunchy red berry fruit, rounded tannins, and plush finish that somehow combines cool climate purity with layered, velvet fruit richness.
This is a limited library release from the estate, just oozing with character and flavor. Think black cherry, cola, rose petal-potpourri, autumn leaves, and raspberry candy.
Time to start thinking about turkey wine! At nearly six years old, it's approaching its perfect drinking window now and over the next couple of years. Sumptuous Central Coast Pinot with a hint of age doesn't come our way that often – enjoy it while it's here!
