Bodkin Wines, from the entirely self-taught Chris Christensen, started in 2012 with the simple goal of making quaffable, fun wines that are affordable and easy to drink. In his words, his wines “should be enjoyed at family events, momentous occasions, picnics and barbecues — not hoarded in someone’s basement.”
Little did he know that, in this quest, he would serendipitously choose Sauvignon Blanc as his desired grape and create the first sparkling version of it in the U.S. Since then he and his co-founding partner Andrew Chambers haven't looked back, continuing to craft stunning affordable micro-production wines of character.
His low-abv, high-acid, "anytime" sparkler is full of electric lime and jalapeño notes, with grapefruit pith, all the white floral notes of Sauvignon and touch of candied pear. It's totally natural and as dry and brisk as a jump into an ice bath after a hot sauna. Oysters on the half shell with lemon-shallot mignonette never had it so good!
