Arbe Garbe "Benandants" White Wine 2015
Malvasia Bianca｜Russian River Valley
"An amazing effort. These are fascinating wines – make no mistake about it."
– Robert Parker 94 points
Arbe Garbe is a husband-and-wife producer of Italian grape varieties, making wine in a completely natural, hands-off fashion.
Malvasia Bianca, a variety of Mediterranean origin, is known for its intense citrus, orange blossom aromatics and rich mouthfeel. This white wine has a nose evocative of beeswax, lemon rind, orange peel, and crushed rocks; the first thing you feel is that this wine has tremendous depth on the palate. Richness, with a current of acidity running through it, fresh and light yet hauntingly rich on the palate. The notes of custard, honeycomb, wet rocks – it’s a wine that dances across the palate yet has enough richness to stand up to heartier dishes. At the dinner table, pair this with braised pork shoulder, seared bass, or a shrimp dish with butter. Even throw a little bit of heat at it – we guarantee this wine will be light enough on its feet to satisfy sauvignon drinkers while still having enough body for chardonnay lovers. Just an incredible white wine.
