Prepare for one of the finest Syrahs you'll ever experience. Not only is this one of our favorite wineries in the entire U.S., they are, hands-down, one of the most natural, responsibly-run farms we've come across.
Full of earthy, forest notes of damson plum, black olive, Asian spices, and tobacco, this is a supple, intensely aromatic Syrah, evocative of a fine Rhône red. Five years of age have softened the tannins, resulting in a silky, luxurious finish.
Cowhorn is a biodynamic, negative carbon-footprint vineyard, farm, and winery in southern Oregon, just north of the California border in the under-appreciated Applegate Valley region. This is a year-round working farm which employs staff 52 weeks a year – no part-time or seasonal help. They grow asparagus, cherries, lavender, and heirloom orchard fruit as well as hazelnut trees inoculated with the Périgord black truffle. Their purple asparagus is unlike any you'll ever taste!
The structures were built in specification with the Living Building Challenge, a far more stringent certification than LEED, including net-zero carbon footprint, net-positive water use, and zero carcinogens in its production; Cowhorn is the first tasting room in the world certified as such.
