Caterwaul, Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Cabernet Sauvignon｜Napa Valley
From 2010 Winemaker of the Year Thomas Rivers Brown comes one of the finest Napa Cab deals out there. The current release is already on to 2019 – this 2017 parcel comes perfectly aged, direct from the winery's private stash!
Thomas Rivers Brown is the youngest winemaker to ever receive a perfect 100-point score and one of California's most in-demand winemakers; every wine he makes is an instant classic. He's made wine for huge names you may recognize: Schrader, Maybach, Outpost, and many others. He founded Caterwaul along with Matt Hardin of Barbour Vineyard Management, known for stewarding some of Napa's top real estate, these two fellas know their stuff and are a true "dream team."
This kind of pedigree typically commands a three-figure price point, easily, making this sub-$50 entry a no-brainer.
Rich, complex, and bursting with brooding dark fruit and spice, this is just entering the secondary phase of its development, accenting leather, cocoa and sweet tobacco alongside bold, forward kirsch, blackcurrant, and dark plum fruits. Antonio Galloni of Vinous Media gives this wine 91 points in his review, calling it "one of the very best wines in its price range.”
This "library" release Cabernet comes from the acclaimed 2017 vintage, only the third time it was produced; with every iteration they only get better! It drinks beautifully now, but decant for at least an hour to let its full spectrum unfold. And for all you collectors, newer vintages trade for up to $65/bottle so take pride in this value-packed offering that will only appreciate with time!
We're one of the few places to find it in the country, and you won't find a better price. On top of that, we'll throw in free nationwide shipping on just four bottles.
