Hendry Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
100% Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the most respected old-school growers in Napa Valley, still family owned to this day.
Though you may not have (yet) heard of them, the Hendry story is an essential part of Napa history. Their property dates back to some of the first plantings in Napa, when the estate belonged to Frederick and John Sigrist and their Sigrist Bros Winery. George Hendry Sr. bought the property in 1939; this marks the 81st decade the family has farmed the estate, sitting at the base of Mount Veeder and the western edge of the Oak Knoll District, in the heart of Napa Valley.
This 2005 is cellar-direct. That is not a typo – you will be the first recipient of this wine straight from their cool, dark cellar where it's been quietly resting for the past fifteen years.
It's showing classic old-school Napa styling: firm, juicy plums, brandied black cherry, pipe tobacco, dark baking spices, and gravelly mineral grit from the stony alluvial soils prevalent throughout. This is arguably drinking at the perfect intersection of maturity and power, with its burnished tannins, well-developed and softened fruit, and a cornucopia of spices, leather, and mocha.
Savoring a perfectly preserved mature Napa Cab is one of the most pleasurable wine experiences you can have. With free door-to-door shipping on only three bottles it will be our pleasure to share this gem with you.
