Château Tour des Gendres "Cuvée des Conti" Blanc 2018
Juicy and bright Sémillon/Sauv Blanc blend from the wonderful, organic Château Tour des Gendres in Bergerac!
If you recall their immensely popular, idiosyncratic red blend we offered some months ago, you'll know they produce striking wines all farmed organically and fermented naturally in the cellar, from the traditional grapes of the region.
This region is just upriver from Bordeaux, nestled along the banks of the Dordogne river, one of the tributaries leading into Bordeaux and the Atlantic. The climate is warmer here, its wines more robust, and the flint-clay soils ideal for these grapes. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon reign here, making for a wine bursting with fleshy pear, yellow apricot, cut flowers, and stony minerality. The 50% Sémillon adds a fruity richness while the 40% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Muscadelle (another local grape) adds herbal intensity and a flinty, refreshing finish.
Perfect for the "little summer" we're having in the Bay Area now, but honestly great anytime. If you love Sauvignon Blanc with a little edge and tons of yellow fruit richness, this wine is for you. At only $17/bottle it's a no-brainer anytime porch pounder. Enjoy!
