Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey "Les Meurgers des Dents de Chiens" Saint Aubin 1er Cru 2005
As most Burgundy fans know, the wines of the Colin family need no introduction. For the rest of us, allow me to introduce you to a rare, highly collectible Burgundy gem. Pierre-Yves is the eldest son of the estimable Marc Colin, whose wines are the reference point for white Burgundy from Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Puligny-Montrachet. In 2005 (yes, THIS vintage) Pierre-Yves struck out on his own and quickly became the darling of the sommelier and collector scene. Today his wines sell out in the blink of an eye and hardly ever see the light of day once they hit a collector's cellar.
This limited lot, however, did! We have just a few bottles to share of this epic 2005 vintage, direct from a private collection and in pristine condition. Each bottle has been thoroughly inspected for quality and we guarantee each and every one.
The vineyard translates to "The Wall of Dog's Teeth," referencing the jagged stone walls that enclose this site. It is perched high up on an escarpment in Saint-Aubin, sandwiched between the historic "En Remilly" and "Champs Gains" vineyards, literally looking down on Le Montrachet. Just incredible terroir.
The finest 2005 white Burgundy's from the famed Côte d'Or are drinking splendidly now, almost defying space and time in how fresh, round, and complete they still are. This is a wine to pop and enjoy at slightly warmer than average temp for white wine, decanted for at least two hours, and slowly sipped in quiet contemplation. Truly a special library wine and we're honored to share with you what we didn't keep for ourselves!
