David Moret Saint-Romain 2015
Chardonnay | Burgundy, France
Found just west of Meursault and Auxey-Duresses in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, Saint-Romain is a small village surrounded by vineyards along the valley of the same name. The slopes here afford ample exposure to sunshine, and the best plots produce wines with echoes of Meursault, Puligny, and Chassagne-Montrachet. The difference? Saint-Romain is a bit less known and lacks any premier or grand cru designations, meaning more value for the money if you know where to look!
Enter David Moret, a micro-négociant crafting limited series of bottlings from prestigious sites in Burgundy. His roster includes some of the most recognizable and sought-after sites in the area.
The ripeness and elegance of the 2015 vintage is well-known and this beautiful cuvée has all those contours: subtle lemon extract, mineral oil, blanched almond, and cut white flower character you would find in neighboring Meursault. And make no mistake, this beauty is still going strong at six years bottle age and will only get better in bottle over the next 3-5 years.
Wines like Moret's have been "natural" long before it was a fad or such a ubiquitous term; there's nothing added or taken away in this wine. Coming directly from Moret's U.S. importer, always stored and shipped in refrigerated containers. Free shipping on just four bottles or any six bottles site-wide. Enjoy!
